Materials Science and Engineering - Industrial Metallurgy

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Amirkabir University of Technology

GPA: 15.06/20
During my academic tenure at Amirkabir University of Technology undertook a research project to investigate the influence of aluminum content on the formation of alloy layers and the thickness of coatings in the hot-dip galvanization process. The objective was to understand how varying aluminum concentrations affect the properties and performance of galvanized coatings, with implications for corrosion resistance and coating quality.

Key Responsibilities and Accomplishments:

Designed and executed a series of experiments to evaluate the impact of different aluminum concentrations in the galvanizing bath on alloy layer formation and coating thickness.
Prepared test specimens by carefully controlling the aluminum content in the galvanizing bath and subjecting them to the hot-dip galvanization process.
Utilized characterization techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) to analyze the resulting coatings.
Quantitatively measured and analyzed the thickness of the galvanized coatings, as well as the composition and distribution of alloy layers formed.
Drew correlations between the aluminum content in the galvanizing bath, the resulting alloy layer composition, and the overall coating thickness.
Presented research findings at academic conferences and published results in relevant journals.

Project Title: Effects of Electroplating Parameters on Catalytic Activity and Nanostructure of Platinum Coating on Niobium
The aim was to optimize the electroplating process to enhance the performance and durability of platinum coatings for potential applications in catalysis.
Key Responsibilities and Accomplishments:

Designed and executed experiments to study the influence of electroplating parameters such as plating time, bath composition, current density, and temperature on the catalytic activity and nanostructure of platinum coatings.
Conducted thorough characterization of the platinum-coated niobium samples using techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS).
Analyzed the obtained data and correlated the electroplating parameters with the resulting catalytic activity and nanostructure of the platinum coatings.
Identified optimal electroplating conditions that resulted in improved catalytic performance and desirable nanostructure of the platinum coatings.
Published the research findings in reputable journals and presented the results at relevant conferences.

Significance and Impact:

The research outcomes provided valuable insights into the relationship between electroplating parameters, catalytic activity, and nanostructure of platinum coatings on niobium.
